A Roth IRA offers tax deferral on any earnings in the account. Qualified withdrawals of earnings from the account are tax-free. Withdrawals of earnings prior to age 59 ½ or prior to the account being opened for 5 years, whichever is later, may result in a 10% IRS penalty tax. Limitations and restrictions may apply.

Traditional IRA account owners have considerations to make before performing a Roth IRA conversion. These primarily include income tax consequences on the converted amount in the year of conversion, withdrawal limitations from a Roth IRA, and income limitations for future  contributions to a Roth IRA. In addition, if you are required to take a required minimum distribution (RMD) in the year you convert, you must do so before converting to a Roth IRA.

Figure It Out with Cam Marston: Part 1 (Ep. 5)

Figure It Out with Cam Marston: Part 1 (Ep. 5)

Today we have tweens, the period after adolescence, and before the teenage years.

But back in the late 80’s and early 90’s, we referred to this cohort as ‘latchkey kids.’ A time when parents left children at home to ‘figure it out’ while they were at work. With the increase of working mothers, and divorced parents, kids were propelled into becoming independent at an earlier age.

And as generation X grew, that same independence and their ‘figure it out’ mentality helped them climb the ladder of success. However, it also hindered them as they navigated corporate life, and having to work collaboratively as a team.

In Part 1 of this 2-part series Will Hoffman talks to our special guest Cam Marston, an author, advisor, radio talk show host, and top-rated keynote speaker on the trends shaping the workplace and marketplace.

Listen in as Will and Cam discuss:

  • Why Gen X were celebrated for things that historically had not been celebrated
  • The differentiators between Baby Boomers and Gen X
  • Why peer reviews are so important
  • And more
